| A Forest Walk |
You are your own boss at Woodstock.
There are unlimited things to do on and off the
farm.
Walks & Hikes
There are incredible hikes for all levels of fitness. There
is a beautiful walk down to the lake and from there a number
of options – either around the lake through the native
forest or through the fields and back up to the house. There
is also a great hike up the hills toward the water reservoir
where you’ll enjoy a majestic panoramic view of the
Rainbow Mountains and Tumunui Mountain.
Mountain Biking
The adjacent forest is well known for it’s mountain
bike trails over thousands of acres. The trails
vary from sedate to challenging. Woodstock’s Cottage
has 2 well-maintained mountain bikes plus helmets.
Farming
You can venture across the paddocks (the fields) to the
stockyards and the shearing shed to experience ‘hands
on’ farming in New Zealand. You might even enjoy helping
out!
Other Activities
At the cottage, a croquet set, a swingball game and several
indoor games are available for your use.
Venturing in the Local Area
When you venture away from Woodstock, the opportunities
are endless. Rotorua – the tourist capital of New
Zealand – is just a 10-minute drive away and the tourist
info center is excellent. This entire area is world famous
for thermal activity, extinct volcanoes, Maori heritage,
several beautiful lakes, plus golfing, trout fishing, boating,
biking, hiking, horse trekking and excellent restaurants.
The spectacular ocean beach at Mount Maunganui is just an
hour’s drive away. Taupo and the adjoining lake and
mountain area are less than an hour away with unlimited
recreation attractions. |
